After School

Friends School offers a variety of after school music classes for Grades 1-8. The program provides enhancement to the school’s general music curriculum. Parent involvement with lessons is greatly encouraged. We host recitals each year.

• Beginning and intermediate guitar
• Eagle Singers (chorus for Grades 1-4)
• Falcon Choir (chorus for Grades 5-8)
• Beginning and advanced percussion
• Drum set lessons
• Piano Lessons

FSMN offers a middle school sports program with fifth grade/sixth grade and seventh/eighth grade co-ed teams in ultimate frisbee, soccer, basketball, and volleyball. We are a part of a Twin Cities sports league LIST with other private and public schools committed to positive, enjoyable, sports experiences. The league is based on the principles of mixed-gender teams, equal playing time, and good sportsmanship.

Clubs are a great way to hang out with friends! Some clubs at FSMN happen every year, while others are created based on student interest at a specific point in time.

Clubs offered can change from year to year, but popular clubs have included:

FSMN staff provide after-school homework help to students in Grades 5-8. Staff work in small groups with students and provide support in helping students organize and complete homework. 

One of the goals is to help students develop the skills needed to complete homework independently.

Hours
Morning Extended Day: 7:15–8:15am
Afternoon Extended Day: 3–6pm
Release Days: 8am–5:30pm

Days of Operation
We are open on all regular school days and release days.
Available to all students enrolled in Friends School of Minnesota

Staffing
One adult per 10 children

Programming
Free-play on the playground and in the gym, weather, and schedule permitting. Common space for hanging out, board games, building blocks, marble runs, drawing, and Perler beads. Quiet area in the library for reading and homework. On release days, all of the above plus special activities and a DVD.

Food
Cereal bars are available in the morning for students arriving by 8am.
Afternoon snack and beverage offered at 3pm and a small second snack at 5:30.

Families receiving financial aid for tuition receive the same percentage of financial aid for their extended day fees. However, financial aid does not apply to late fees.
