We held our lower school and middle school curriculum nights over the past two weeks.
I attended both nights. I went to get ideas for future newsletters and social media posts. I took A LOT of notes and wrote down many ideas, but those ideas aren’t what stuck in my mind days later.
At some point, during the course of both nights, I began to notice themes that were coming up. What was I hearing in between the “tactics” of how families can support students at home, how teachers support students at school, and what our hopes and dreams are for our children?
The themes that I heard over and over again all came back to one thing – relationships.
The hopes and dreams our families have for their students matched the language that our teachers used to talk about how they support our students – we are grounded in relationship, we see our students as the complex individuals that they are, and we see our community as interdependent and supportive.
I left both curriculum nights feeling inspired and lucky. When we hold relationships at the center, we will change the world.
