Friends School of Minnesota is a nonprofit organization and has governance committees to help it run smoothly. The School Committee is the overarching “board of directors” with fiduciary responsibility and oversight of the school through policy and mission/vision.
The School Committee is supported by 4 standing committees:
- Development/Fundraising
- Finance
- Quaker Life
- Committee on Trustees
Standing Committees consist of parents and community members who volunteer approximately 2-3 hrs/month. Standing committees generally meet once a month for about 90 minutes, in the evenings, mostly over Zoom. Some follow up tasks may take an hour or two outside of meetings. If, on the off occasion, meetings are in person and at the school, childcare is covered during standard extended day hours.
The Committee on Trustees (COT) helps recruit community members to serve on all these committees.
If you, or someone you know who is connected to the school, and has a background that you think would be valuable, use this form to volunteer for an FSMN Governance Committee (nominate yourself too!). COT pulls from this list to recruit new members, based on the specific needs of a committee in a given year.
You can nominate someone at any time, though we prefer getting most names by March 1st to get the committees set before summer break!
