By now, we’ve all heard that garden centers have been declared essential businesses by the governor. Some are already open, now that it’s warming up. Green Earth Growers, a primary supplier to Friends School Plant Sale that also has a retail store, opened today, and has set up online ordering with curbside pickup. They’re located in Prior Lake. They especially carry many of the vegetables and herbs we sell, and will have more of them available as we head into May.
There are several other plant sale growers who have retail locations. We have a full list of locations right at the top of our website’s FAQ page. Briefly, some of the locations are in:
Farmington Shorewood Princeton
Faribault Fridley Lonsdale
St. Michael Roseville Spring Grove
Check out the full list! It also includes the small, locally owned retailers like Egg|Plant, Mother Earth Gardens, and Heidi’s GrowHaus that carry plants from our growers, as well as our local food co-ops with their plant sales. Many are just getting open now or will swing into full operation in early May.
Speaking of plant sales, Spark-Y, a Northeast Minneapolis-based urban farming and youth organization that supplies some of our vegetables, is having its annual plant sale of edible plants through online pre-orders by April 30.
… and Don’t Forget Our Garden Fair Exhibitors
The small businesses and artists who make our Garden Fair fun and informative are still available to share their wares with you. Find out about them here, including the Minnesota Water Garden Society, which has a way you can buy the plants they were going to sell at our sale. See their website for details.
