Rachel Crooks holds a graduate degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She has seven years of experience as a private piano teacher of over seventy students in Grand Forks and Alvarado, Minnesota. In addition to private piano teaching, she also taught class piano at UND to freshman and sophomore students, served as music director at her church, and performed as a singer/songwriter in various local venues.
As a teacher, Rachel is interested in discovering and developing her students’ musical gifts through their unique learning styles. Her greatest desire is to help her students develop fluency in music in the same manner as learning a language--lessons therefore include an emphasis on creative improvisation and playing by ear in addition to reading musical notation.
