Today’s Victory, Tomorrow’s Work

The below statement was sent out on the evening of Tuesday, April 20, after the verdicts were announced in the Chauvin trial.

FSMN Families and Staff,

Guilty on all counts.

This is accountability, but it is not justice. It will not return George Floyd to his family.

While our community can finally let out the breath we have been collectively holding, it is important to remember and state that there is still much work to be done.

This is not the end of a fight for justice, but a glimmer of hope that a more just world is indeed possible.

We must continue to stand against systemic racism and white supremacy.

We have said it before and we will continue to say it as long as it takes: Black Lives Matter. George Floyd’s life matters. Daunte Wright’s life matters.

Please join me in holding our entire community, especially our BIPOC community members, in the light tonight.

In peace and solidarity,

Joe Mueller – Head of School
