Kris Bennett

Middle School Math/Science Teacher

Kris has taught at FSM since 2011 and as our middle school math teacher since 2013-14. Previously, Kris worked at FSM as interim middle school science teacher and environmental education coordinator. She has a B.S. in Natural Resources from Cornell University and a M.S. in Science Education from the University of Maine.

Kris has taught middle school on Mt Desert Island, Maine and was a sea kayak guide in Acadia National Park. She also taught high school science and math in the US Virgin Islands and started an extensive marine biology program and a tropical horticulture program through Iowa State University.

Kris is a strong believer in experiential, place-based education and is so grateful to have found a school in her native state of Minnesota that embraces both.

Kris is the mom of a very active boy and loves to run, bike and paddle around the Minneapolis lakes.

I HEAR AND I FORGET
I SEE AND I REMEMBER
I DO AND I UNDERSTAND.
