Caroline Schnieders

First and Second Grade Teacher
Headshot of Caroline Schnieders

Caroline comes to FSM with remarkably deep experience in early childhood education with particular attention to the philosophy and practice of progressive education. Most recently she was at Groves Academy and before that she was a long-term substitute at St. Paul Academy.

From 2005-2014 she taught first grade at the Walden Center and School in Berkeley, CA, a nationally-recognized progressive school. She's also been trained in diversity, conflict resolution, teaching social justice, and in programs to better serve students with ADHD.

She graduated from Macalester College before earning her master's degree from the University of Minnesota. She and her wife, Yvette Soignier, have two sons, Eliot--a FSM student--and Arlo, somebody we hope to see at FSM in a few years.

"I am thrilled to join the Friends School of Minnesota staff in the fall. My passion for child-centered, progressive education and my belief in the Quaker values of peace, simplicity, and social justice will guide my teaching in the Jungle classroom. I look forward to teaching and learning with my students and getting to know the rest of the community."
